Easy Steps To Overcome a Bad Habit

Do you ever find yourself stuck in unhelpful habits or addictions like overeating, overspending or drinking too much coffee or alcohol?

Ever been in that place where you try and try to change? Using the supposed willpower again and again, but finding yourself right back where you started, feeling defeated and stuck? It can be really painful and frustrating to be caught up in these addictive cycles when you feel you should ‘know better’. And you don’t!

Behavioral addiction involves a compulsion to engage in a rewarding, non-drug-related behavior. The reward is sometimes called a natural reward, but it may cause negative consequences to the person's physical, mental, social or financial well-being. Good habits are so much easier to give up than bad ones. Addiction begins with the unconscious hope that something "out there" can instantly fill up the emptiness or the hole inside.

At Body Brilliance Physiotherapy and Wellness Centre we believe that Mindfulness can offer so much help with so many of these unconscious struggles. If we bring something into our line of sight, we can do something about it. When we aren’t even aware of what we are doing, we can change nothing!

This is why we are so intent on running mindfulness courses. They help us and our patients to focus our attention on the present moment and see what is really happening. When the mind wanders to the future or past, or when powerful emotions such as cravings arise, mindfulness refocuses us on this moment with all it contains.

Addictions and cravings are behaviors that harm our physical and mental health especially when they are tied in with compulsions where we feel as though we cannot stop.

If you feel, this is relevant to you or a loved one, call now for an appointment and we can help you.

In the quest for well-being in the world, be it your employees, family member, friend or loved one!
